چکیده
Two-dimensional systems are interesting both from a purely theoretical and from an experimental point of view. Examples of real systems that behave effectively as two-dimensional systems are monolayers adsorbed on solid substrates’ and surfactants adsorbed on an air/water interface.’ If a fluid is confined between two parallel plates, the phase behavior of such a system has two limiting cases. For infinite plate separation the system is identical to the threedimensional bulk system but when the separation between the plates is of the order of a molecular diameter, the fluid behaves like a two-dimensional bulk fluid. In order to study the influence of confinement on the phase behavior it is important to know the phase diagram of the two-dimensional bulk fluid. The Lennard-Jones potential is given by

We have used Monte Carlo simulation and the Gibbs–Duhem integration technique to calculate temperature– composition and pressure–temperature phase diagrams for binary Lennard–Jones mixtures. We systematically explore Lennard–Jones parameter space to demonstrate how the features of these phase diagrams change as a function of diameter ratio, well-depth ratio, binary interaction parameter, and pr...
متن کاملShift of the azeotropic point of binary Lennard–Jones mixtures confined in a slit-like pore
The Gibbs ensemble Monte Carlo simulation is used to investigate the vapor–liquid phase behavior of a binary Lennard–Jonesmixture confined in a slit-like pore at reduced temperature T* = 1.0. Our simulation program is tested by comparing the simulated phase diagram with the previous simulation results from various methods. Then phase diagrams of a binary asymmetric Lennard–Jones mixture confine...
متن کاملThe phase diagram of the two center Lennard-Jones model as obtained from computer simulation and Wertheim’s thermodynamic perturbation theory
The global phase diagram ~i.e., vapor–liquid and fluid–solid equilibrium! of two-center Lennard-Jones ~2CLJ! model molecules of bond length L5s has been determined by computer simulation. The vapor–liquid equilibrium conditions are obtained using the Gibbs ensemble Monte Carlo method and by performing isobaric-isothermal NPT calculations at zero pressure. In the case of the solid phase, two clo...
متن کاملMolecular Model for Formic Acid adjusted to Vapor-Liquid Equilibria
A new molecular model for formic acid is proposed which favorably describes vapor-liquid equilibrium properties in the full temperature range. The geometry of the model was determined by quantum chemical calculations of the cis-conformer. The model is rigid and consists of anisotropic united atom Lennard-Jones sites and point charges, so that it requires relatively little computational effort.
متن کاملUnlike Lennard-Jones Parameters for Vapor-Liquid Equilibria
The influence of the unlike Lennard-Jones (LJ) parameters on vapor-liquid equilibria of mixtures is investigated and the performance of eleven combining rules is assessed. In the first part of the work, the influence of the unlike LJ size and energy parameter on vapor pressure, bubble density and dew point composition is systematically studied for the mixtures CO+C2H6 and N2+C3H6, respectively....
